In 18 short hours between Newark and Singapore, on the way to a customer RFP presentation, I began reinventing supply chain. And it, along with the actions that followed, ultimately helped transform my company, and my industry.
The website I built, the story I told through data and visualization, and the business value I was able to demonstrate during that RFP presentation, was enough to convince the customer that we were "5 years ahead of the competition".
It was also enough for our nearest competitor to invest a whopping $45 million to incubate a start-up company to attempt to "catch up" with us!
It was game on.
And this was just the beginning of a digital supply chain transformation in my industry.
I created SupplyWeb.org because the world has evolved and supply chain must evolve to keep up the pace. Today's supply chains are manual, linear, siloed, and latent, but are now evolving from chains into a connected and resilient web.
The role of the supply chain professional has never been as important as it is now, as we look beyond the supply chain of the last 50 years and work together to build the supply chain of the next 50.
The experiences we enable today and the transformation which is occurring will create a better tomorrow.
